Sorry, this is a flow-over from another post I created but couldn't resist when I say the phrase 'self-upgrade'. Just my two cents, if your XP machines are within a Healthcare, Banking, or Government industries I am sure there are other industries but you have until April to replace those machines or you will not be within compliance. Banking you will potentially have a SOX violation or credit processing with those vendor security.
Yes XP is end-of-life Falls down dramatically never to function again You might want to share that with those folks. Talk about huge security hole. Don't tell anyone who you work for fear of being hacked. I don't see why Server wouldn't work as a member server in an environment with DC's.
